Ron and Becky Armstrong moved to rural West Texas in 2002
- far from the rat race of the metropolitan Dallas world they
had been living in most of their adult lives. Eastland county
was Ron's childhood home, and he was welcomed back by old
school friends and cousins. Never ones to be idle for long,
after six months clearing the 18 acres of land they now owned,
Becky and Ron began looking around for something to do between
feeding goats and mowing down mesquite trees.
An opportunity presented itself in the form of menu cover making
equipment - stamping and sewing machines - which a
local company was selling. Never too old to learn new
tricks, Ron hired a menu cover sewer to teach him the ropes - and soon
he was spending a good portion of his day hunched over a sewing
machine learning a new trade. He began calling restaurants and learning more about menus and menu covers - taking apart menu
covers and re-making them. Becky helped out in the office in the time she had available between
caring for Ron's parents who lived next door and her own parents an hour's drive away.
Six years later, the goats are
gone (no time), and the business has expanded into a new
building with more than a dozen employees to continue the work
that Ron and Becky began. Becky works as a sales
representative and handles all the invoicing. She also
handles the Spanish speaking market. Ron does the menu
designs, dreams up new products, and takes over the foil
stamping and printing tasks as needed.
The mission of ClearGuard Products has never changed,
however. Customer satisfaction and value are top
priorities, and each employee has a part n seeing the products
and service are the best they can be. We never stop looking
for ways to make our products better or new things to try.
Becky and Ron welcome visitors to the plant. Drop in
anytime for a cup of coffee and a tour. |
